Practical behaviour assessments and coaching for riders who know something is wrong

Stop second guessing your horse

Riding should feel good.

Right now, it just feels stressful.

The Reality Check:

Maybe your horse is scaring you. Or maybe you know they are trying to tell you something, but you can’t decode it. You’ve asked for advice online and got a dozen conflicting answers. Now, you’re second-guessing yourself. It feels easier to leave your horse in the paddock and pretend you're too busy to ride.

That is how riders quietly quit.

You lose your confidence. Your horse gets labeled as "difficult." The dream gets retired to a field.

It’s not your fault. Most equestrians learn how to ride, but we aren't taught how horses actually learn. You are trying to turn a screw with a hammer. It’s a great tool, but it's the wrong one for this job.

Let’s get you the right toolkit.

Through practical behavior assessments and clear coach, I teach you to read your horse's subtle signs. You will get solid, science-backed training tools and know exactly when to use them.

  • Behaviour science explained in plain English

  • Training tools you can use straight away

  • Honest recommendations

How we work together.

No guesswork. No long-term commitments upfront. Just a clear starting point.

Step 1: The Horse Behavior Assessment

Get instant clarity on what your horse is actually trying to tell you.

We stand out in the paddock (or sit down online for a chat) for 45 minutes to deeply analyze what is going on. Think of it like a visit to the GP. Before we try to fix anything, we need to know exactly why the behavior is happening. Whether your horse is rushing jumps, refusing to float, or completely scaring you, we will get to the root of it.

  • A 45-minute deep-dive session to observe your horse's behavior and triggers in real time.

  • A personalized, easy-to-read Action Plan sent straight to your inbox, giving you instant clarity on the next steps.

  • An honest, professional recommendation on the spot for the exact training tools or package you actually need.

Step 2: Your Personalized Pathway

Because a loose screw needs a screwdriver, not a hammer.

Once we know what is happening, we choose the right tool for the job. Depending on what your horse needs, we will move into one of three tailored directions on our call:

  • Behavior Change Programs: For horses experiencing high stress, fear, or dangerous behavioral patterns.

  • Targeted Solution Packages: Focused support for specific roadblocks, like floating or handling issues.

  • Regular Equestrian Lessons: Fine-tuning your training and ridden communication once the underlying behavior is relaxed and stable.

Real stories from real equestrians

From ready to quit, to riding with total confidence.

“I was getting ready to sell Louie after too many confidence knocks... Today we won a red ribbon.”

"Last year I was at a loss. Susan believed in Louie and believed in me. She started back with the basics, took her time when he would rear and spook, and took the time to explain everything to me. I now look forward to my rides again, and can’t believe what we are achieving together. I love my horse and am so thankful I didn’t sell him." — Vicky & Louie

“My mare turned into a bit of a monster... Total loss of confidence. Susan was a revelation.”

"I learnt soooo much about horse behavior. Susan is amazing! I learnt how to deal with the spooking and other behavior. Confidence right back up now. You never made me feel stupid, you were supportive and always said the right things!" — Jacqui & Tessa

“From throwing tantrums and rearing... to calmly self-loading in a couple of short sessions.”

"I've had many lessons with Susan — ground, ridden, and float loading. The floating sessions have been particularly valuable. Susan has a great attitude and a mind for problem-solving. I highly recommend her for when you've hit a particularly rough patch." — Annemieke

“I had not been able to clip Layla in over 3 years until I got Susan’s help.”

"Her response to clipping got more dangerous each year to the point where she would strike out while sedated. Susan has been amazing working with Layla over a few months to desensitize her. Layla is now accepting of being clipped, her fear response is gone, and no sedation is required!" — Nicole & Layla

“I came into the lesson feeling lost and doubting my progress. In just an hour, she transformed my confidence.”

"Susan has a way of bringing out the best in both horse and rider. Her ability to see exactly what I needed — not just technically, but mentally — was invaluable. Every session leaves me with a renewed sense of purpose." — Nellie

Hi, I’m Susan.

Let’s build a yard where people are actually well-educated.

I want an equestrian world where riders are highly skilled and make well-informed decisions. I have a low tolerance for ignorance when it comes to horse welfare. If a horse panics or struggles, they don't need a “leader”. They need an educated handler who understands behavior science and knows exactly how to make them feel safe.

The Science

I bridge the gap between traditional coaching and behavior science so you get real, data-backed answers. No guesswork.

  • Equine Scientist (MSc)

  • Horse Behaviourist

  • Equestrian Coach (BHS)

  • Mindset Coach (ICF PCC)

"Science gives us the rules, but horsemanship is an art. A great composer doesn't just rely on talent — they spend years mastering music theory and physically practicing their instrument. I want to teach you to combine both."

The Result

When you back up your knowledge with consistent, physical practice, that is when the tension finally melts away. You stop being on high alert because you’ve built the muscle memory and the skills to handle whatever happens. It is a slow, steady process, but if you have the desire to learn, you will get there.
