Find Your Flow (and Maybe a Little Magic) with Horses in Ohariu Valley
Hidden in the hills of Ohariu Valley — just 20 minutes from Wellington CBD — there’s a place where stress softens, your phone stops buzzing, and horses quietly remind you how to breathe again.
This is Horse Space, a space where you can explore mindfulness, confidence, and leadership through authentic connection with horses
No small talk (well, maybe some, we do like to have fun), but no pressure
Just presence, curiosity, and honest feedback from nature’s most intuitive teachers. Yes, we mean horses (though the chooks often like to join too)

What People Say
We all loved it! Thank you so much!!
Sharyn - Mindfulness with Horses
It was SO MUCH FUN!! My favourite part was being with the horses.
R. - School Group
I left with a lot more confidence and being able to relate to others. I really enjoyed talking and learning about stuff that’s important but not often talked about enough at my age. And of course I loved the things we did with the horses.
V. - Group experience
I loved being with the horses and I learned so much about how I can communicate how I’m feeling easier.
C. - Coaching with Horses
I really enjoyed it! I learned more about how to value my feelings and emotions and my favourite part was doing the exercises with the horses.
S. - Coaching with Horses
Meet the Team
Meet the Horses
Our four-legged team aren’t just pretty faces — they’re teachers, coaches, and occasional comedians (horses have a weird sense of humour, trust me). Each has their own vibe, quirks, and lessons to share.
-
Clover is the dark mare with a heart as big as her personality. Sweet when you earn it, assertive when you don’t, and always clear with her boundaries. She’s the kind of horse who will politely (or not-so-politely) tell you when you’re off your game. Clover teaches us confidence, respect, and how to trust our instincts — and she loves those who show up authentically.
-
Tino is a brown gelding who basically invented “go with the flow.” He’s generally pretty calm, easy-going, and a little bit cheeky. As herd boss, he keeps everyone in line — without being bossy. Tino helps humans slow down, notice subtle energy shifts, and embrace life with a lighter heart.
-
We also have a rotating cast of buddies who pop in for group sessions, lessons, or corporate experiences. Each horse brings their own personality: some are curious, some are dramatic, some just want scratches and snacks. Together, they create a herd dynamic that’s rich in learning, connection, and the occasional belly laugh.
Why our horses are so special:
They read your energy better than most people
They teach confidence, presence, and empathy
They make sessions unforgettable (and often hilarious)
Come meet them — they might just teach you more than you expect, all while stealing your heart along the way ❤️
Meet Your Human Facilitator & Coach
Hi, I’m Susan — your human facilitator (the horses are my co-facilitators, obviously).
I’m an equine scientist, horse behaviourist, and certified equestrian coach who somehow ended up becoming just as obsessed with helping humans as I am with helping horses. I’m also a Master Transformational Coach and ICF Professional Certified Coach (PCC) — which is a fancy way of saying I’ve got the credentials and the sass to back it up.
What I do: create safe, meaningful, sometimes fun, always life-shifting experiences where you can reconnect, get clarity, and find your flow.
Curious? A little intrigued? Slightly nervous (that’s normal)? Perfect. Let’s chat.
My Credentials (because I know you like to see them!):
ICF Professional Certified Coach (PCC)
Master Transformational Coach
BHS Certified Equestrian Coach
MSc in Equine Science from Aberystwyth Univeristy, Wales
BSc in Environmental Science from University College Roosevelt, the Netherlands

FAQs
-
No, our equine flow experiences are all done with our horses at liberty with your feet firmly on the ground. This allows for the interactions to be consensual for both horse and client.
-
No, our horses are very friendly and these experiences are fully guided to keep you safe.
For safety reasons, we may move your session if our horses aren’t feeling their best selves.

Coaching is not the same as therapy, and is not a good replacement for therapy.
Coaching is designed to help you become the best version of yourself. And whilst it is often deeply transformational, it is not suitable on it’s own if you are struggling significantly with your mental health.
Though we are happy to take you on if your therapist has given you the green light.
