Ready to be cool as a cucumber?

Losing your confidence sucks!

No-one deserves to shit their pants because they are struggling with fear or self doubt.

And it doesn’t have to show up in having a panick attack.

Sometimes it shows up in just having lost your spark, or maybe you are telling yourself stories so you can get out of riding.

And sometimes it’s got nothing to do with your horse, but with that annoying boss who’s power trip is to put you down — and you’ve simply started taking that negative energy with you to your horse.

Losing your confidence can feel super deflating!

But here is the Good News! You don’t have to figure it out on your own!

A woman with short curly blonde hair holding a mug, wearing a turquoise blouse with lace embroidery, standing against a black and blue background with a purple outline.

I discovered mindset work after a particular bad run at a job — I wont name names but considering I’d smoke 3 ciggies just on my way to work (I haven’t smoked in years — unless I have a beer with friends and give it a try only to realise that it was a mistake — and I was only ever a casual smoker at best) you can tell it was bad!!!

I’d lost all self belief!!! It was impacting my work, my confidence in my riding skills, and even showed up in my relationships with people.

And mind you, I was the girl with 10 pony tails on her head — just because she could — as a child. I had unwaivering confidence. But sometimes things happen and poof, it’s gone.

So off I went to therapy, started doing yoga, mindfulness. But the biggest change happened when I started training as a coach — for humans, not equestrians lol — and I started to really make HUGE positive shifts!

Because by understanding what is keeping you stuck in the perpetual cycle of lack of confidence, you can find a way to stop that cycle and start moving forward in the direction of unshakable self belief!

— Julia

Confidence coaching isn’t a magic fix

But it can help you

  • Calm your fears and anxiety

  • Stop you from overthinking

  • Build confidence and trust in yourself

  • Get clarity on what’s really holding you back

  • Create action plans that actually work, not just “to-do” lists

  • Navigate any transitions with resilience and calm

  • Laugh, feel energized, and rediscover joy

If you want to stop feeling stuck, and to ride with more confidence and joy. And you’re READY to take control over your mindset. Then confidence coaching might just be for you

But if you’re happy sweating balls thinking about getting on your horse, or riding down the centre line, or jumping that jump

Then this is not for you

"I’ve done years of counselling, but Susan’s mindset coaching gave me a breakthrough I hadn’t found anywhere else. Her questions helped me shift things I couldn’t before."

— Allanah

"Susan helped me realise that fear isn’t weakness, it’s information. That perspective changed how I ride, and how I live."

FAQs

Do I need to have a “big problem” to work with you?

Not at all. Many riders come to coaching simply feeling stuck, unmotivated, or unsure what’s next. You don’t need a crisis, just a sense that something needs to shift.

How do I access the coaching?

Coaching sessions are held online via video calls, so you can join from anywhere in the world. For local clients in Wellington, in-person sessions are available by request.

Is it like therapy?

No. Therapy helps heal past wounds and mental health issues. Coaching focuses on your present mindset and actions to help you move forward with confidence and clarity.

Is this coaching only for competitive riders?

Absolutely not. This is for any rider who wants to feel calmer, more confident, and more connected. Regardless of discipline or experience level.

Will you tell me what to do?

No. My role is to guide and support you in discovering your own answers. You get tools and accountability, but you decide the path that fits you best.

What makes you qualified to do this?

I’m an ICF Professional Certified Coach (PCC) and Master Transformational Coach. With years as a horse behaviourist and equestrian coach, I understand both the mental and practical challenges riders face.
