Equestrian Coaching

For riders who want more than a good lesson — and are ready to understand why

Good training starts with understanding your horse, yourself, and how you work together as a team.

When you understand the why the how becomes a whole lot easier.

Things we often cover during coaching sessions are:

How your horse is recieving information& how you give it

What your horse’s body is doing and how to improve their way of going

Helping you trouble shoot when things don’t feel that good

Figuring out what needs to happen to significantly improve

Why get coached by Susan

I don’t tell you what to do just so you can try to execute it.

I want you to walk away from each session understanding what you're communicating to your horse, how your horse is receiving it, and what's needs to happen to progress.

My coaching sessions always combine equitation science, classical dressage principles, and mindset coaching to get the best out of you and your horse.

We'll work on what's actually going on, not just on the symptom that shows up in the arena.

How it works

Before your first session

Before your first session we’ll have a short (15 minute) chat to see where you and your horse are at and what you’d like to get out of working with me. This is also just to check if we get along and if I’m going to be a good coach for you.

The first coaching session

Coaching sessions are up to 60 minutes. This allows for breaks and processing during the session. This first session is also for me to see you with you and your horse.

Continued success

After your first coaching session I’ll send you a training plan based on what came up in the first session. And ways for us to continue working together.

I offer reduced rates for regular riding clients.

Let’s learn

In their words

"Susan has a very flexible approach and tailors each lesson to the individual needs. She has a huge amount of knowledge and loves keeping herself up to date on the latest research in the equine world — so as well as learning to ride, you also learn about horse behaviour and gain a much better understanding of your horse. When I had a nasty fall Susan helped me regain my confidence, she was very mindful of my comfort levels and gradually rebuilt it using techniques from her mental coaching. Susan goes the extra mile for her clients."

Jacqui

"I'm a middle-aged woman who returned to riding after more than 20 years away. Turns out it's a lot harder than expected! Susan is incredibly kind and calm, and not only helps you build a connection with your horse but helps you understand yourself as well."

Kim

"Exceptional teaching. Susan has a focus on getting the fundamentals right. I love how she includes me as the parent so I can learn alongside my daughter. I feel empowered with knowledge."
